Tomorrow will be my last day of training before the World Cup race season starts in Lake Louise next week.
Reflecting on this, I am extremely proud of what Stef and I have been able to accomplish since deciding to start our own team this past spring.
Honestly, it was a lot more work than I think either of us anticipated, and we were met with countless unexpected obstacles along the way. When the going gets tough, we joke that we are just preparing ourselves for our future life challenges. But we persevered and have had a tremendously productive prep period in Chile, Europe and Colorado, in addition to well planned and executed programming in between our training camps.
I feel the most confident I have ever felt going into a season, and I am so grateful for all the support I have received not only this year but throughout my skiing career. I’ve said it many times but I would truly not be here without the amazing community I’ve found through ski racing.
Despite the confidence I’ve been feeling the last couple of weeks, I have had many moments of doubt and uncertainty. It’s extremely vulnerable to tell everyone that I have done everything I possibly can to prepare and that I am going to give every run 100% effort, but still not know if that is going to be good enough. And in sport, like life, there are still so many things that are out of my control that will go into the equation to decide if my best effort was or was not good enough.
So in response to this I’ve decided to redefine what ‘good enough’ means to me. Good enough means that I am vulnerable enough to say I tried my absolute hardest, it means that I am willing to fail and it means that I am committed to giving every run everything I have in order to put my best effort to the test.
I feel very lucky to be able to continue my journey with all of you! Please keep cheering and routing for me. My first DH training run in Lake Louise will be next Tuesday (and I will update you soon after that :). I will be racing in the two Dh’s in Lake Louise on the 2nd and 3rd and the Super G on the 4th. Everything will be streamed and recorded on https://skiandsnowboard.live/ and times will be on fis.com
keep it up Tricia!
You’re skiing fast! We’ll be watching.
