Hello Friends, Family and Blog Followers :)
Nice to be back writing again!
I have had a busy 2.5 months since my last update and am very excited to fill you in and to start posting my weekly blog posts again.
I am currently on a plane headed to Ushuaia Argentina for my first Summer training camp with the US Ski Team!
The last time I updated my blog, I was in the middle of my first camp back with the US Ski Team and headed to DC for Girls in Sport event at the National archives which was a fantastic experience and event. You can watch the streamed recording here if interested. I am currently planning a couple more in-person community events in the fall which I’ll send updates in a future post once details are finalized.
After DC, I flew back to Mammoth for another week of training with the US Ski Team speed girls, and then joined the American Downhiller camp for an epic week of speed training and coaching with the next generation of US speed demons. Anna and Marco Sullivan (and the entire coaching staff) did an amazing job with this camp again and I could not recommend it more! I actually regret only going to one week because the training was so good, but it was a highlight of my year for sure!
I then flew straight to LA to shoot my very first commercial for my sponsor The Feed that was aired in this year’s Tour de France. Shout out to all the friends that told me they saw my .5 seconds of fame the past couples of weeks, but in case you missed it, you can watch the commercial here :)
The Feed has been an incredible sponsor to work with for a number of different reasons. First and foremost, their sports nutrition guidance and their products (every type of sports and nutrition fuel you could possibly need) are awesome and have helped me tremendously in the gym (I’ve seen huge improvements across the board in my dry land training numbers). They are also super supportive when it comes to helping me grow my brand which makes a big difference as an athlete from a relatively small sport. My favorite package from them has been my new customized Team Tricia water bottles.
I’m currently working on finding a couple more brands (yes I have reached out to Haribo!) to support and sponsor me for the season, so if you know of anyone looking for an Olympic Athlete to represent their brand, please let me know :)
I flew back to San Francisco at the end of May, which is where I have been based out of for much of the past two months. I subleased a room from a friend and have been working in person (when I’m in SF) for my brother Peter’s company PromptLoop. This has been an awesome learning experience and a great opportunity to keep the brain working in over drive! I’ve noticed that start up life isn’t too dissimilar than trying to make it as a professional athlete - you have to give it 110% at all hours, all the time, you’re never truly sure if it’s going to work out - but you have to commit nonetheless, and it’s definitely an emotional rollercoaster. My days in SF have consisted mostly of waking up, working out, working, getting a second workout in, and then trying to somehow get 7 hours of sleep and hopefully see a friend or two for an evening activity/game or dinner. I actually felt like I [maybeeeee] put a little bit too much on my plate the past couple of months (which is probably why the blogs have subsided :0) but now that I made it through, I feel a lot better.
I did, however, get a very, very nice week long break in France (to celebrate my parents 60th bdays) with my the ENTIRE family (plus friends :)) which was truly an amazing time. The perfect amount of rest, family time, activities and of course beautiful views and delicious food.
I also was able to sneak home for a week to help run Camp Mangan again this year which was as fun and chaotic as always! Luckily Andrew and Mary were both home to help, and they ran the second and third week seamlessly (with my mom’s help too of course).
Despite the packed schedule, I feel incredibly refreshed and strong and ready to go skiing! I’ve realized that one of the silver linings of working in an office is that you get even more excited to travel, and I certainly feel that now as I head to Argentina. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to ski again in the summer, so that is a great sign.
I’m excited to keep sharing my journey with all of you and will dive deeper into a couple things I mentioned in this blog, in future posts, but of course, feel free to comment or email any questions or blog topic suggestions.
Now for the photos!
