Heading to DC
Hi Everyone!
I’m currently headed to Washington, DC to speak as a @iplaylikeagirl Ambassador at the National Archives as part of the Girl Power: Inspiring the Next Generation of Women Athletes event this Thursday.
I’ve talked a lot on this blog about the lessons I’ve learned through sport and I feel extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity to play sports from a young age. Being an athlete has helped give me confidence and push my limits both in ski racing and my life outside of sport.
A big mission of mine this season was to use my platform more to help promote youth involvement in sport, especially young girls, which is why I’m really excited to team up with I Play Like A Girl to help encourage young girls to find empowerment through sport.
Hopefully I can inspire athletes to work hard at their goals and never stop believing in their dreams while also encouraging them to use the challenges they face as opportunities for growth to help them succeed on and off the playing field.
I wanted to share this event with you all as it will be streaming live for free on YouTube this Thursday at 5 pm EST if you know any young girls who might be interested in watching the panel discussion with me, softball player Monica Abbott, and former WNBA basketball player Bethany Donaphin.
I am excited to continue to work towards encouraging and promoting young girls to participate in sports, so if there are any initiatives you would like me to help support in this area, please feel free to reach out!
